Bumblebee vs Barricade

Here are some pics of Bumblebee vs Baricade

Last Saturday was Merv's wedding dinner and it was a day filled with activities. The brothers gathered at his place at 0830hrs and we went to his condo in Ampang to pick up the bride. We were put through an ordeal of wasabi flavored nuts with extra wasabi and tabasco sauce, some bitter tea and some baby food. We even had our legs waxed and it was not a pleasant experience.

After that it was back to Bangsar for lunch at his parents' place. I picked up Yen from home and then headed by foot to the feast. There was a lot of "siew yok" and I had a good helping to it. Delicious!

The dinner was like a gathering of lost friends. A lot of people that I haven't met or seen for a long time turned up at the dinner. It was too bad that Yen lent her camera to her sis-in-law and well, my phone's pretty crappy with pics. Even with the flash on, it still won't be bright.

Anyway, congrats to the lovely couple once again. Now, it seems that it would be my turn and I've just received the dates. I will have to call up the hotels tomorrow to see if I can make the reservations.

It's been a while since I've posted any new pictures of the Transformers that I've acquired lately. So, thought I'd take one right now. As you've noticed, the Megatron is still inside the box, kinda looks like he's still kept in cryogenic.

Went to Rudy's house yesterday for a Raya get-together. Finally met the much elusive Fai-chan. Pleasant gal, suits him very much. Yen even said that they were a match. Had lemang, rendang chicken and beef, and polished off a nice portion of cheese cake. Yumz. Rudy, thanks again for having us there. It was fun!

Ironhide

Ironhide, this is the one that I've been searching for high and low. Prime's weapon specialist. "Do you feel lucky, punk?!". My favourite line from the movie.

Among all, Ironhide's probably the only character that has gone through the most major transformation. In the original G1 cartoon, he was a Nissan Vanette, and a red one as well. For the movie, I'm glad that they chose the black GMC Topkick. Looks really contemporary and mean as well.

Rachet

Another piece obtained. I was thinking of the neon green Rachet but since I had gotten the G1 Starscream, it was only fitting that I got the G1 Rachet as well. Somehow, this one looks a lot nicer and it has the Autobot symbol on the arms.

Grimlock

OK, this will be probably the last of the classic Transformers that I will be getting. The childhood dream has been completed. I now have the Optimus Prime and Grimlock.

It's a good thing that the seller was willing to come to Bangsar in the evening. The boot of his car was filled up with figurines, some from what I make of it were Transformers movie toys, some classic Transformers and others I had no clue. But all were packed and ready to be delivered. Beats going down to the hobby shops to shop around for the one that you want.

"Dinobots always rescuing Autobots, they bite off more then they can chew!" Grimlock.

THS 02 Optimus Prime

Finally, after too much of watching Transformers lately, I downloaded the G1 classic carton as well. All of that watching got me going down memory lane once again. I still remember the time when my parents agreed to buy me my first Transformers toy. I was given a choice, the original classic Optimus Prime from Takara or the Hasbro classic Grimlock.

So being a small kid, I always liked the leader of the Autobots. Therefore I took Prime over Grimlock. Although as we all know, Grimlock was stronger, I guess he's got a brain the size of a peanut.

This time, after much searching I managed to find the THS-02 Hybrid Style Convoy edition. It's designed by Shoji Kawamori and it's very limited. The retail for this was RM189.00 when it came out last year. I managed to buy it for RM 219.00, 30 bucks more off eBay. It's a pretty good buy considering the prices posted there started from RM 249.00 ranging all the way till RM 269.00. So I locked the buy and collected it today at Amcorp Mall.

I don't think I'll be opening this one, it's more of a collection, same as the Metallic Finish Megatron. Finally, an Optimus Prime that looks like Prime. You see, the classic mould for Prime had a gap, where the radiator grille is. That forms his arms. I didn't quite like that design. But this THS 02 model, it seals the gap once you transform the arms, so it looks as close as possible to the one in the cartoon.

I've also managed to secure the classic Grimlock from this seller. So, it's like a childhood dream come true. I'll post the pics up once I get it later this evening.

Megatron

It's funny how fast the places run out of stock. Sow Hon got word that there would be a restock of the Transformers movie toys. I was out looking for Ironhide, the GMC truck looks kinda good. Instead, when we got there during lunch, we went to Jusco in 1U, there was nothing left.

So we walked over to Toys R Us and at first, there was nothing left as well. Till I looked over at the display on the middle and there it was, Megatron, the leader class. Since it was at retail, I thought I'd pick one up. Then, Prime would have a nemesis.

I also managed to secure the last metallic series, a limited edition from Hasbro. The metallic finish Megatron definitely looks a lot nicer, too bad they didn't produce one for the Leader class.

So far, I have managed to keep my itchy hands from opening the boxes. I'm going to wait a little longer before I open it.
